VOLUNTEERING IN THE DAY SHELTER

Our Day Shelter is the most direct way to meet and be involved with currently homeless people. Our volunteers range from college students, to young professionals, from retired people, to families.

The JSBC Team needs volunteers to help provide the following services to our homeless guests:

• An address and location to receive mail

• Storage for up to two bags in our storage closet (the only place in Louisville to offer this service)

• Laundry services

• Shower and restroom facilities

• Phone

• Breakfast

• Lunch (when available via volunteer groups)

Day Shelter Hours

Monday - Thursday     7am-1pm

Friday – Sunday      7am-12pm

JSBC is busiest from 7am-11am each morning. Our greatest need in our Day Shelter is always during these hours. While all volunteering is appreciated, regular weekly volunteering is encouraged. Most of our volunteers come at the same time and day each week.
